How to place a bid on eBay

Suppose you'd like to purchase a guitar on eBay. You've found a guitar you like, and you've loaded the item page in your Web browser. The first part looks something like this:

BEAUTIFUL CLASSICAL GUITAR
Item #1231194
Music:Musical Instruments:Guitar:Acoustic
Currently $127.50
Quantity 1
Time left 6 days, 21 hours +

The actual page you see may look slightly different, depending on whether the "Buy It Now" option is offered, whether a reserve price is specified, and other factors.

The first part of the auction description presents a summary of the auction. Among the things in the summary are:

  • The item's title, "Beautiful Classical Guitar" in this case.
  • The item number, a unique number that identifies this auction.
  • The current high bid, shown here as $127.50.
  • The quantity of items being offered.
  • The time left until the auction closes.
